Originally created in Italian sandwichshops in the 1960’s, a panini is a grilled sandwich traditionally topped with ingredients such as mozzarella, pesto and tomato, giving it an authentic Italian flavour. But in our shop, we also serve variations with flavours from other countries, such as a panini with old Dutch cheese, richly topped with fresh home-grown ingredients.

For example, we buy our meat products from butcher Bührs in the Jordaan, where quality and craftsmanship are paramount. Fun fact about panini’s!

In the Netherlands we often refer to a single panini sandwich with the word ‘panini’ and use ‘paninis’ as the plural, but this is actually incorrect. In Italian, a single sandwich is called a ‘panino’ and the plural is ‘panini’. Even the Dutch dictionary says it is actually one ‘panino’ and two ‘paninis’. Which panino will you be ordering at our shop?
